Cyber Security & Ethical Hacking Fundamentals Internship
A self-paced virtual internship on defensive cyber security: security principles, network defence, OWASP Top 10 web risks, incident response and the ethics of authorised testing, with module exams and a QR-verifiable certificate.
Overview
The Cyber Security & Ethical Hacking Fundamentals Internship is a self-paced virtual internship that builds a clear, defensive understanding of how organisations protect their systems, networks and data. It focuses on concepts, terminology and best practices that security analysts, developers and IT administrators use every day.
You start with the foundations: the CIA triad, threats, vulnerabilities and risk, authentication and cryptography basics. You then study network defence with firewalls, intrusion detection and secure protocols, followed by web application security through the OWASP Top 10. The final module covers security operations, vulnerability management, incident response and the legal and ethical framework of authorised security testing, including scope, permission and responsible disclosure.
The program is conceptual and defensive by design. It explains what common risks are and how they are prevented and detected, rather than how to carry out attacks. Each module includes study notes and a timed online MCQ exam, and the last module contains a capstone brief in which you prepare a security assessment and hardening plan for a fictional small business. Learners who meet the exam requirements receive a QR-verifiable internship certificate showing the internship period.

Internship program
This is a self-paced virtual internship. You learn from written study material and online assessments at your own pace; there are no live classes, assigned mentors or placement commitments.
How the internship works
- Enrol and begin your internship period from your learner dashboard
- Study the four modules in order, from security fundamentals to incident response
- Attempt the timed online MCQ exam for each module and see your result instantly
- Score at least 60% in every module and keep a 70% overall average
- Complete the capstone project brief included in Module 4
Capstone project
The capstone asks you to act as a security analyst for a fictional small business. You prepare an asset inventory, a risk register, a prioritised hardening checklist mapped to OWASP and network controls, and a short incident response plan. The work is documentation-based and needs no access to any real system.
Internship certificate
After meeting the exam requirements you receive a digital internship certificate with your name, program title and internship period. A QR code on the certificate allows anyone to verify it online. The certificate confirms completion of this online program and is not a job offer or professional licence.
